I came across this poem in a book called Thinking for a Change by John C Maxwell:
Keeper of the Keys
You are the keeper of the keys
You are the Guard at the Gate
Waiting in line to go through that door
is LOVE. And also HATE.
In line to enter is GENTLE PEACE.
And also VIOLENT WAR.
You must choose who may, and who
May not come through the door.
INTOLERANCE tries to sneak on through
On wings of FEAR, or PRIDE.
It hides behind DREAMS of BELONGING,
And tries to sneak inside.
Oh! Be alert! You're the Guard who decides
Who GOES and who may STAY
You are The Keeper of the Keys to your Mind.
Who will you let in today?
First visit, I like it.

ReplyDeleteWho is the author of that piece ?
ReplyDeleteAs mentioned above, I came across this poem in a book called Thinking for a Change by John C Maxwell, so I guess he is the author.
ReplyDeleteThe poem, "Keeper of Keys" is from 'Mudpie', published in 2001 by Guy Gilchrist as listed in Maxwell's 'Thinking For a Change.'
ReplyDeleteThis cited source is listed in the Notes section near the end of the book, pg. 260 of the 2003 hardcover edition.
An update: I've been informed that the author of Keeper Of the Keys is Guy Gilchrist.
